Formally called the Womens’ Fellowship which evolved in 1991, when the afternoon Ladies Class and the evening Womens’ Fellowship joined together. Both groups had their roots in the beginnings of Methodism and in the history of Wigton Road Methodist Church. They shared the same ideals: to worship and serve God and to share fellowship with each other.
The afternoons are primarily devotional with a variety of invited speakers.
A warm welcome is extended to everyone -
A group of ladies, married and single and meet fortnightly, January to June and September to December.
The aim of the group is to extend the hand of friendship within the community the Church Family and out into the community.
The programme consists Devotional evenings, Demonstrations, Slide Shows and Coffee Evenings (a time to chat). Money is raised for charity and members give support to Church activities. Everyone is welcome to come along for friendship and fun.
Lunch Club was started in 1996 to provide meal and companionship especially for those from the local neighbourhood and Church who live alone.
A main course and sweet, followed by tea of coffee is provided for a small charge of £3.00.
This informal club meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, except at Christmas time and during the summer. (August)
A warm welcome is extended to all to share in fellowship with one another round the table.
This group provides the opportunity for men to meet together informally and listen to speakers on a wide range of subjects. It is an open group welcoming all men regardless of whether or not they are a church member.
Meetings end with light refreshments and an opportunity for a chat.
New members who would like to spend two pleasant hours either afternoon, evening or both, sharing a cup of tea and biscuit among a friendly group of people will be welcomed. Existing members will be very pleased to offer help and advice if needed.
The children partake in many activities every week, Including Crafts and Games. The Crafts include Paper Aeroplane making, card making and other fun things. The Games can include anything from Football to Gymnastics.
As a Church run group we do teach the young people about God and Jesus’ teachings.
Mums, dads, grandparents and carers with their little ones from the age of new-
A variety of toys are available for the little ones to play with as well as an organised craft session and a ‘very informal’ music session each week!
The team provides a very happy welcome together with refreshments. The cost per family is £1.50 and that is halved between the toddler group and The Smiles Foundation, with whom the group have sponsored two families in Romania since 2001.
