For girls aged 5 to 7 years
Tuesdays during term time between 4.30pm and 5.30pm
Rainbows are the youngest section of the Girl Guide Association. The girls are encouraged to wear a uniform and make a promise after four weeks. Each half term a theme is chosen ; for example , health, eating, keep fit and weather. Visits to local places of interest and/or inviting visitors to talk to the girls are also arranged from time to time.
During time together, the girls may play games, sing, dance and do art and crafts. The main idea is for them to to have fun together.
For girls aged 7 to 10 years
Tuesdays during term time between 5.30pm and 7.00pm
The programme which is planned by the girls (with help) includes working for a variety of badges; two examples are cook and road safety. A variety of craft activities and visits to various places of interest are also undertaken. Once a year a pack holiday is arranged in which the girls are encouraged to participate.
For girls aged 10 to 14 years
Tuesdays during term time between 7.00pm to 8.30pm.
Most of the activities for the weekly meetings, trips, and outside visits are undertaken and planned by the girls. Many of these are carried out outdoors. Putting up, and taking down, tents, cooking over open fires are two examples. Guides work through various challenges to obtain Interest badges and the Baden Powell award – the highest award in guiding
